MTHFR GENE MUTATION

If you havn’t already gotten around to it, here’s the download link for the pathology request form. Remember this can be done in a pathology lab, via blood or if you don’t much like needles you can order the salivary test and take a sample in the privacy of your own home. As the abbreviation suggests, this defect can be a real Mother Fucker! So best you rule it out as soon as possible and get on top of it quickly.

Up to 40% of the population possess this gene….

Why?

I believe this is a genetic mutation in response to long term exposure to radiation in the form of the growing wifi world, heavy metal toxicity and the growing amount of vaccines we receive which unfortunately contain aluminium and some mercury.

MTHFR Gene Mutation – What do I do now?

So you’ve tested positive to one or more mutations of the Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase enzymes and wondering what this means for you and what you can now do to prevent this defect causing serious health problems.

I highly suggest you do some further reading and investigation once you get your head around the test results, but the great news is, we’ve now identified it, which means there is lots we can do to prevent its effects reeking havoc in your body!

Here’s a little bit of background info to get you started on your journey to understanding what this is all about:

What is Methylation?

Methylation is a vital process which occurs in every single cell in the body and has multiple functions. Depending which SNP’s (defected genes) you have and which gene is affected will determine the decline in methylation status in your body.

For Example:

Heterozygous  = 1 copy of the gene from either parent
Homozygous  = 1 copy of the gene from each parent

MTHFR C677T Heterozygous = 40% loss of function *
MTHFR C677T Homozygous =  70% loss of function *

MTHFR A1298C Heterozygous = 20% loss of function (research not known)
MTHFR A1298C Homozygous  = between 50-70% **

So in short, when your body loses the ability to methylate properly, think Allergies, Oestrogen dominance, Inflammation, Toxicity, Poor emotional health, reduced Stress response, Nutritional depletion…….

MANAGING THE M*THR F*CKER

More specific Roles of Methylation

  • Protecting DNA and RNA.If DNA is not protected it is susceptible to damage by viruses, bacteria, heavy metals, solvents and other environmental toxins. Over time if this damage becomes significant and could even result in cancer.
  • Reducing histamine levels. High histamine levels result in allergies.
  • Protecting cell membranes.  The methyl group donated by SAMe helps build phosphatidylcholine which then gets incorporated into the walls of all your cells.  If these cell membranes become damaged and weak, the cells become fragile and harmful things may enter the cell.  If they are unable to carry in useful nutrients, they will die. Excessive cell membrane damage can lead to serious medical conditions, such as multiple sclerosis for one example.

Common Signs & Symptoms in people with MTHFR gene mutations

Symptoms and potential long term effects of the enzyme malfunction are quite wide spread and extremely varied from person to person, but with the right treatment and lifestyle prevention processes these symptoms can be avoided, the sooner you identify the defect and make the necessary lifestyle changes, the less likely you are to end up with a nasty chronic disease such as an Auto-immune condition, cardio vascular, mental illness, disease and cancer.

Here’s what people with a defect commonly experience, either consistently or throughout different more stressful periods of their life:

  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Symptoms of Oestrogen Dominance – all the hormonal havoc signs we’ve chatted about previously
  • Poor memory & Concentration
  • Nutritional deficiencies, specifically B Vitamins, Zinc and Vitamin D

EFT – The Emotional Freedom Technique

The Emotional Freedom Techniques, (EFT) aka the Tapping method is a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues. This technique works directly on your emotional body on with the premise, that any physical ailment ie hormonal imbalance symptoms is actually first created by an initial negative belief or uncomfortable emotion. ie deep unresolved anger that eventually manifests as endometriosis for example.

From everything we have discovered about the adrenal system and the power of stress, it’s no surprise that negative emotions end up causing disease in the body, but the problem is, that since a lot of these beliefs of stuck view points are often ‘subconscious’ that is we’re not actually consciously aware we have them or are living them, sometimes they can even be beliefs we have brought in with us from previous lives, it can be difficult to treat them.

EFT can be used directly to help physical symptoms without exploring any emotional contributors in depth, which is why it can be such a quick and relatively painless approach to ‘sorting out your shit’.  But like anything, if you want a really deep healing, that withholds long term, you will eventually want to explore those deep emotional fears and beliefs which are holding you back in life, which of course can be an uncomfortable process. But what we do know, is all the magic occurs outside your comfort zone, so if you want to achieve all your big life goals it’s best to be willing to dive in and work with your subconscious mind.

So what exactly is Tapping?

About 5,000 years ago, the Chinese discovered a complex system of energy circuits that run throughout the body. These energy circuits also called meridians are widely accepted and form the core concept of many ‘alternate’ or esoteric healing practices such as Acupuncture, Acupressure but the concept of the energetic body which we possess as well as our physical body is used in other common healing practices such as Hypontherapy, Kinesiology, Body Consciousness, Reiki and many other modalities.

This energy courses through the body and is invisible to the eye, but it has been proven to be there with techniques such as Kirlian photography and people with Clairvoyancy can see or sense things and so on.  No doubt you’ve heard someone say ‘my gut feeling’ which although they don’t have any physical evidence often people can sense something, it’s called our intuition, hopefully you listen to your own regularly, it’s real and it’s powerful!

In the same way, EFT gives you striking evidence that unique energy flows within your meridians because it provides the effects that let you know it is there. By simply Tapping near the end points of your energy meridians you can experience some profound changes in your emotional and physical health.

Western medical science tends to focus on the chemical nature of the body and has not paid much attention to these subtle, but powerful, energy flows until recent years. However, they do exist and are attracting an expanding group of researchers. There is real science behind this stuff it absolutely exists, it’s just not that we were brought up with it and exposed to it in mainstream education, so most people are completely unaware it exists so simply do not know how to tap into their inner energy flow.

Salmon with Coconut-Saffron Sauce

You will need:

2 lb salmon fillets

Olive oil

Salt and pepper

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Coconut-Saffron Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 chicken or vegetable bouillon tablet
  • 2 1/2  cups coconut cream
  • 1 tablespoon of organic butter
  • Large pinch saffron

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 170° C.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a large baking dish. Drizzle olive oil and season each fillet with cumin, salt and pepper.
  3. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through.
  4. While the fish is cooking make the sauce:In a medium saucepan melt the organic butter, but don’t burn it.
  5. Add the onions and cook for 3 minutes, stirring often. Add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  6. Add the coconut cream, saffron and chicken bouillon.Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
  7. Spoon sauce over the salmon fillets and serve warm.

Here’s what I recommend

  1. Set yourself a goal

ie aim for 15 minutes a day or even, 15-30 minutes a few times a week. Even if its just 30 minutes once a week, then least you have made a plan.

2. Block the time out of your schedule

Make it a reoccurring time, ie at 9.30pm each night before bed. Or 10am every morning on your tea break. What ever it is, repeat it and talk about it, so that people know that’s your meditation time and don’t interrupt you. This helps keep you accountable and in a good routine which will eventually establish a habit you will stick to.

3. Choose a guide that inspires you

There are lots of great healers out there who have created powerful meditations, which you can tune into. First I recommend experimenting with free meditations from Youtube. Different voices and sounds will resonate more or less, once you find someone you like on topics which particularly appeal to you, then you can look into supporting the artist by purchasing their app, Cd’s or downloadable files. Feel free to experiment wide and far, you don’t have to stick to the same topics or artists.

4. Stick to it

Chances are you won’t notice much of a difference over night, but you will feel more relaxed overall and be healing your soul, if you can commit to regular meditation. So give it a few months before you pull the pin or really expect to feel any different.
